A New World Order Could Lead to Marvel’s Thunderbolts

When the next Captain America movie hits the big screen, Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson will wear red, white, and blue. It was one of the many ads that came out of Marvel Studios Hall H Panel at San Diego Comic-Con Captain America: New World Orderslated for release on May 3, 2024. Another surprising announcement was the one that has been circulating for a long time Lightningwhich concludes the fifth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on July 26, 2024, two months later Captain America 4. While Marvel loves to remind fans of how each of its projects is located in a connected world, there are two main ways to do that Captain America: New World Order Can lead directly to Lightning.

When Steve Rogers passed his shield to Sam Wilson in the last moments of Avengers: EndgameThe prevailing assumption was that Falcone had graduated to the rank of Captain America. However, this has been proven to be incorrect when The Hawk and the Winter Soldier It premiered on Disney+. The six-episode season followed Sam and Bucky Barnes as they wrestled with the legacy of The Shield. Also of note is the introduction of John Walker, aka American Agent, who was chosen by the government to replace Steve Rogers.

Like those who watched Hawk and Winter Soldier I know this didn’t go as planned. The American agent was stripped of his ratings after he publicly killed a Flagsmashers member. However, John Walker ended up being recruited by Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine for reasons that are still unknown…at least for the time being. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the American Agent, along with The Winter Soldier and Sharon Carter, return Captain America: New World Order. Sharon’s role as the power broker should continue in the new movie, although she probably won’t be the main antagonist. Whether it’s an individual or a group, Captain America and the US Agent will find themselves on the same side of this battle, and the results should be the ultimate setup for the MCU Thunderbolts.

We’ve already seen Valentina’s contract with Yelena Belova in the post-credits scene Black Widowso it’s another possible character Captain America: New World Order can be used. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige revealed this Lightning He will be starring new characters that fans haven’t had the privilege to meet yet, but he hasn’t said if they’ll make their debut in Lightning. What if they appeared alongside American Agent and Yelena in Captain America: New World Order?

This is all prepared for Lightning, where Marvel could decide to go the original route with the team made up of villains masquerading as heroes, or another of their comic iterations where they are a government-approved team of semi-reformed heroes and villains. There are also rumors that Winter Soldier could be a member of the Thunderbolts, so there’s another natural relationship between the two films as well.

Fans may have initially complained about the lack of a coherent story or vision for Phase 4 and beyond, but as we learn there’s a bigger plan in the works. This includes Captain America’s corner of the MCU, where Thunderbolts can enter themselves and then branch out to establish themselves in the public eye. The fun will be finding out who makes the team, and where we’ll see each of these characters next.

Captain America: New World Order Debuted May 3, 2024, followed by Lightning On July 26, 2024.
